Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The audio module (AUD) monitors its own internal temperature. The code is set when that temperature is too high, most often because of high surrounding temperature, high power consumption in the module, or a damaged audio module. The sound then cuts out and may return once the module has cooled.
Possible causes
- Excessive ambient temperature
- Excessive power consumption in the module
- Damaged audio control module
What you can do
- 1Let the car cool down and see whether the sound returns
- 2Make sure air can circulate around the audio unit and that nothing blocks it
- 3If the fault only appears when hot it may be temporary overheating; if it recurs the audio control module should be replaced
- 4Read the code with diagnostic equipment and confirm whether the fault is permanent
Symptoms you may notice3
- No sound from the speakers
- Sound may return once the module has cooled
- The speakers do not work
