What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered that the voltage supplied to it is too high. The fault lies in the charging system, and too high a voltage can damage the module's electronics.
Possible causes
- Fault in the charging system
What you can do
- 1With diagnostic equipment check the voltage with the engine running and fault-find the charging system
- 2Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 3Check the battery terminals for corrosion and looseness
- 4The brake system is safety critical: have a workshop fix the fault promptly, and do not work on the brake control module yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- ABS warning lamp on
- The brake circuit does not work and the warning lamp comes on
- ABS, anti-skid, stability and traction control do not work
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect2
- ABS is disabled
- Traction control, stability control, active yaw control (AYC) and brake assist are disabled
