What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered that the brake discs have become too hot. This happens after prolonged anti-spin or traction control intervention, or when the brakes have been loaded so heavily that the discs have overheated.
Possible causes
- Prolonged anti-spin intervention
- Prolonged brake loading, so that the discs have become too hot
- Prolonged traction control intervention
What you can do
- 1Let the brakes cool down completely before checking them
- 2Have a workshop carry out a visual inspection of the front brakes and replace any damaged parts
- 3Clear the code only once the brakes have cooled, and check whether it returns
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not work on the brakes yourself, and have a workshop repair any damage to the calipers, pads or discs
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Information lamp on
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control is blocked while the brakes are too hot
