What does this fault code mean?
Applies only to cars fitted with DSTC. The brake pressure sensors and the pedal position sensor share a common supply inside the brake control module. If the module detects that the supply voltage to one of the sensors is wrong, the code is set.
Possible causes
- Wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Defective sensors
- Pedal position sensor wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Pedal position sensor not working
- Brake control module (BCM) not working
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the brake control module, the pedal position sensor and the brake pressure sensors for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Check the wiring to the pedal position sensor for open circuits and short circuits to ground and supply voltage
- 3Read the fault status and check the sensors with diagnostic equipment
- 4The brake system is safety critical: drive carefully as stability and traction control do not work, and do not work on the brake sensors yourself
Symptoms you may notice4
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-skid, stability and anti-spin do not work
- Information lamp on
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Stability control, traction control, active yaw control (AYC) and TRACS are disabled
- Brake assist is disabled
- Traction control on the rear wheels is disabled
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
