What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered a fault in the circuits to the inlet and outlet valves of the hydraulic ABS unit. The fault may be caused by a short circuit, an open circuit, interference or an internal fault in the module. While the fault is present, ABS and stability control do not work.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the brake control module (BCM)
- Short to ground or supply voltage in the valve circuits, or an open circuit in the circuit
What you can do
- 1Try to activate the hydraulic valves with diagnostic equipment; the valves should be heard operating
- 2Check the connectors at the brake control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module without a workshop's assessment, do not work on the hydraulic unit yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS warning lamp on
- The brake circuit does not work and the warning lamp comes on
- Anti-spin and stability function do not work
- Anti-skid does not work
- General warning lamp on
What the fault can affect3
- ABS is disabled
- Traction control, stability control, active yaw control (AYC) and brake assist are disabled
- Electronic brake force distribution (EBD) is disabled
