What does this fault code mean?
Applies only to cars fitted with DSTC. The sensors inside the AYC sensor send readings for yaw, lateral acceleration, acceleration straight ahead and lean to the brake control module. The code is set when the signal from the lateral accelerometer is faulty, which is most often due to an open circuit or short in the wiring to the AYC sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wiring to the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the stability sensor (BSC)
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring between the connector and the AYC sensor for open circuits and short circuits to ground
- 2Read the sensor signal with diagnostic equipment and judge whether the values are plausible
- 3If the value is wrong, the AYC sensor may need replacing by a workshop
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and do not work on the stability sensor yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
- Information lamp on
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Traction control (TC) and stability control (SC) are disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is disabled
- Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled on cars that have it
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
