What does this fault code mean?
Applies only to cars fitted with DSTC. The accelerometer, which measures acceleration straight ahead, sends its value through the AYC sensor to the brake control module. The code is set when the accelerometer signal is faulty, for example due to an open circuit or a short to ground in the wiring to the AYC sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wiring to the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
- Two-wheel-drive stability sensor (BSC) fitted to a four-wheel-drive car
- Internal fault in the stability sensor (BSC)
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring between the connector and the AYC sensor for open circuits and short circuits to ground
- 2Check that the correct stability sensor is fitted to the car, as a two-wheel-drive sensor does not suit a four-wheel-drive car
- 3Read the sensor values with diagnostic equipment and replace the sensor if the values are wrong
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and do not work on the stability sensor yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
- Information lamp on
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Traction control (TC) and stability control (SC) are disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is disabled
- Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled on cars that have it
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
