What does this fault code mean?
The stability sensor (BSC) gives the brake control module information about the car's sideways movement and its acceleration to the side and straight ahead. The code is set when the wrong variant of the stability sensor has been fitted. The fault can only be detected once the module's test has started and certain conditions are met.
Possible causes
- A four-wheel-drive stability sensor is fitted in a two-wheel-drive car with a particular gearbox
What you can do
- 1Check that the correct stability sensor is fitted for the car's drivetrain and gearbox, and replace it with the right model if the wrong one is fitted
- 2Check that the sensor is correctly fitted and that its connectors are secure
- 3The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and have a workshop check the stability sensor

- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Traction control (TC) is disabled
- Stability control (SC) is disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is disabled
