What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor (SAS) module sends signals from the steering angle sensor onto the CAN network. The brake control module calculates a reference signal from wheel speed signals, yaw rate and sideways acceleration, and compares it with the steering signal. The code is set when the reference signal is implausible. The fault can be due to front axle alignment or to the steering angle sensor.
Possible causes
- Incorrect front axle alignment
- Steering angle sensor incorrectly fitted
- Defective steering angle sensor
What you can do
- 1Check whether faults are stored in the steering angle module, the wheel sensors or the AYC sensor, and fault-find those first
- 2Check whether the AYC sensor is loose or incorrectly fitted, and that the connectors are secure
- 3Check the front axle alignment and the steering angle sensor value with diagnostic equipment
- 4Do not replace the brake control module for this code; the brake system is safety critical, so have a workshop repair the fault
Symptoms you may notice4
- Anti-spin warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Stability control (SC) is disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is disabled
- Traction control (TC) is disabled
