What does this fault code mean?
When the sensors that make up the stability function (AYC) are calibrated, a checksum is stored in the brake control module. At each start-up the module compares the stored checksum with a newly calculated one. The code is set if they do not match. It can appear after new software has been downloaded, in which case it only needs clearing.
Possible causes
- Interference or noise that has affected the brake control module
- Defective control module
What you can do
- 1If the code was stored during a software download, clearing it may be enough; then check that it does not return
- 2Have a workshop calibrate the brake system with the car standing level and the brake pedal untouched
- 3The brake system is safety critical: do not calibrate the stability sensors yourself, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin warning lamp on
- General yellow warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control (TC), stability control (SC) and active yaw control (AYC) are disabled
