What does this fault code mean?

The AYC sensor contains the yaw rate sensor, the lateral acceleration sensor, the accelerometer and the lean sensor, and is connected to the brake control module on its own CAN wire. If the signal from the yaw rate sensor is implausible, the code is set. The fault may come from interference, low supply voltage or an internal fault in the sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Interference or noise on the wires that has disturbed the AYC sensor's calculations
    • Supply voltage to the AYC sensor too low
    • Incorrect wheel alignment
    • Internal fault in the AYC sensor
    • Interference on the wires that has disturbed the stability sensor's (BSC) calculations

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the connectors at the brake control module and the AYC sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
    2. 2Make sure no source of interference, for example a mobile phone or radio receiver, sits too close to the AYC sensor
    3. 3If the code status is intermittent, poor contact or an interference source has probably been the cause; if the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor
    4. 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • General yellow warning lamp on
    • Anti-spin does not work
    • Stability function does not work
    • Anti-skid does not work
    • Traction control does not work

    What the fault can affect2

    • Traction control (TC), stability control (SC) and active yaw control (AYC) are disabled
    • Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled on cars that have it

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
