What does this fault code mean?
The lean angle sensor applies only to cars with RSC. It is built into the AYC sensor, which is connected to the brake control module on its own CAN wire. The code is set when the signal from the lean sensor is implausible, which may be caused by interference or voltage problems on the wires, incorrect wheel alignment or an internal fault in the AYC sensor.
Possible causes
- Interference or noise on the wires that has disturbed the AYC sensor's calculations
- Supply voltage to the AYC sensor too low
- Incorrect wheel alignment
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the brake control module and the AYC sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Make sure no source of interference, for example a mobile phone, sits too close to the AYC sensor
- 3If the code status is intermittent, poor contact or an interference source has probably been the cause; if the fault remains, have a workshop check it
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- General yellow warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control (TC), stability control (SC) and active yaw control (AYC) are disabled
- Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled
