What does this fault code mean?
During stability regulation the brake control module opens a pressure build-up valve that lets atmospheric pressure into the brake booster, raising brake pressure automatically. The function is used by anti-skid and active brake assist. The code is set when the signal from this valve is implausible, and the fault may lie in connectors, wiring or the valve itself.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors or connections
- Wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Incorrectly fitted sensor
- Defective pressure build-up valve
- Fault inside the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the brake control module and the valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Activate the valve with diagnostic equipment and check that it can be heard operating in the engine bay
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the valve
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not work on the brake booster or valve yourself, and have a workshop repair the fault
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control (TC), stability control (SC), active yaw control (AYC) and brake assist (BA) are disabled
