What does this fault code mean?
The pedal pressure sensor sits in the brake booster and tells the brake control module when the brake pedal is pressed. The module uses this to switch off the stability function and active brake assist when the driver brakes. The code is set when the signal from the pedal pressure sensor is implausible.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors or connections
- Open circuit in the wiring
- Wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Defective pedal pressure sensor
- Defective brake control module
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the brake control module and the pedal pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Read the pedal pressure sensor status with diagnostic equipment; it should be off when the pedal is not pressed and on when it is
- 3Check the wiring for open circuits and short circuits to ground and supply voltage
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not work on the brake pedal sensors yourself, and have a workshop repair the fault
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin warning lamp on
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control (TC), stability control (SC), active yaw control (AYC) and brake assist (BA) are disabled
