What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor module (SAS) and the steering wheel module (SWM) send data to the brake control module in small packets, and each packet has an identifier number. The code is set if the brake control module receives an identifier that does not match the one it expects. The code may be stored when the brake control module is programmed.
Possible causes
- Interference or intermittent breaks on the CAN network
- Internal fault in the steering angle sensor module (SAS)
- Fault inside the steering wheel module (SWM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code if it was set during programming of the brake control module, and check that it does not return
- 2Read the codes in the steering angle sensor module and the steering wheel module and fault-find according to them
- 3Check the CAN communication with diagnostic equipment, and replace the steering angle sensor module if it is faulty
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not replace the brake control module for this code, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin warning lamp on
- General yellow warning lamp on
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control (TC), stability control (SC) and active yaw control (AYC) are disabled
