What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module registers that the brake light switch does not switch on when the brake pedal is pressed. The fault is checked in certain driving situations, for example repeated braking from higher speed, and it may be caused by a mechanical defect in the brake light switch.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault in the brake light switch
What you can do
- 1Check that the brake light switch is correctly fitted, moves freely and is undamaged
- 2Read the brake light switch status with diagnostic equipment while the brake pedal is pressed and released
- 3If the value does not switch between off and on, the brake light switch should be replaced by a workshop
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not work on the brake light switch yourself, and have a workshop repair the fault
