Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The automatic braking at low speed, which is part of the forward monitoring, has been switched off. The fault is caused by interference or communication faults on the CAN network, for example another module disturbing the network or braking requests arriving too often.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the CAN network
- Internal fault in the module
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the other modules on the CAN network and deal with them first
- 2Check the CAN wiring and connectors with diagnostic equipment
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop find which module is disturbing communication
- 4The brake system is safety critical: do not work on the brake system modules yourself, and have a workshop repair the fault
Symptoms you may notice1
- Forward monitoring and automatic braking do not work
What the fault can affect2
- Low speed automatic braking is disabled while the code is set
- The module stays switched off until the power supply is interrupted, and on a new start it tries to communicate again
