What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has registered an internal system fault in the control of the inlet valve for the right rear wheel. The valves in the hydraulic unit regulate brake pressure at each wheel, and when the module cannot rely on the function, several stability and brake assist functions are switched off. The fault is electrical, but the cause most often lies in the module itself.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the brake control module
- Temporary disturbance in the module's calculation, if the fault has only occurred once
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the battery and its terminals, as voltage drops can cause false internal faults
- 3Check the brake system fuses and that the connectors at the brake control module are secure
- 4With diagnostic equipment activate the hydraulic unit valves and check that they respond
- 5If the fault returns, the brake control module normally needs replacing by a workshop, and the acceleration sensor and internal sensors must then be calibrated afterwards
- 6Do not work on the brake hydraulic unit or the module yourself, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Front monitoring and City Safety do not work
- Cruise control will not engage
- Brake failure and anti-spin warning lamp on
- Brake pedal requires more force than normal
- Parking brake has reduced or incorrect function
What the fault can affect2
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
- ABS, traction control, stability control and brake assistance can be disabled
