BCM-C002177 - Brake Booster Performance. Mechanical Failures. Commanded position not reachable
System

Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has found that the brake booster does not respond to the test signal, so the requested change of position cannot be carried out. The cause is most often that the booster is too cold, as cold mechanics have higher friction and move more sluggishly.
Possible causes
- Brake booster temperature too low, giving high friction
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Drive the car for a while so that the brake booster warms up, then check whether the code returns
- 3If the fault remains at normal temperature, a workshop should check the brake booster with diagnostic equipment
- 4The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brake booster yourself, and let a workshop decide when the car is safe to drive
Symptoms you may notice4
- Traction control does not work
- Hill descent assist does not work
- Hill start assist does not work
- Front monitoring and adaptive cruise control do not work
