What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has detected a break in the circuit to the brake booster pre-pressure valve, an open circuit. The valve admits air into the booster during stability control and when adaptive cruise control needs extra brake pressure, so those functions are affected.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire to the pre-pressure valve
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged pre-pressure valve
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connectors at the brake control module and the pre-pressure valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Activate the pre-pressure valve with diagnostic equipment and check that the wire is not broken
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the pre-pressure valve or brake booster yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- Cruise control will not engage
