What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has detected an internal electrical fault in the control of the brake booster pre-pressure valve. The valve admits air into the booster during stability control and when adaptive cruise control needs extra brake pressure. The fault most often lies in the module itself, but the connectors and the valve should be checked first.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the brake control module
- Damaged pre-pressure valve
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connectors at the brake control module and the pre-pressure valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, the brake control module normally needs replacing by a workshop
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brake control module or brake booster yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- Cruise control will not engage
