What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has found an electrical fault in the circuit to the right front wheel sensor (wheel module). The module measures the current through the sensor to calculate wheel speed, so an open or short circuit means the wheel speed is lost.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or corrosion in the wheel sensor or brake control module connectors
- Open or short circuit in the sensor supply or signal wire
- Damaged wheel sensor
- Damaged brake control module (uncommon)
What you can do
- 1Check the brake system fuses
- 2Check the right front wheel sensor connector for poor contact, moisture and corrosion
- 3Inspect the cable in the wheel arch for chafing, especially where it moves with the suspension
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop read the wheel speed and test the wiring with diagnostic equipment
- 5Drive carefully until repaired, as ABS and stability control are not available
Symptoms you may notice3
- ABS, traction control and brake system warning lamps on
- Traction and stability control do not work
- Adaptive cruise control, collision warning and auto brake do not work
What the fault can affect1
- ABS, traction control, stability control, brake force distribution and brake assist can be disabled
