What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has found that an incorrect type of wheel sensor is fitted at the right front wheel. The module expects a particular sensor and therefore cannot interpret its signal correctly once the speed is above a certain level. The fault lies in the fitted component, not in the module.
Possible causes
- Wrong type of wheel sensor fitted, for example after a repair or replacement
- Incorrect spare part used during earlier work on the car
What you can do
- 1Check which type of wheel sensor is fitted at the right front wheel and whether it has recently been replaced
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Have a workshop fit the correct wheel sensor for the car and check its function afterwards
- 4After the repair, drive the car at a sufficient speed and check that the code does not return
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the wheel sensor or ABS system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS indication shows a fault or no indication
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
- Electronic parking brake has reduced function
What the fault can affect3
- ABS, traction control, stability control and brake assistance can be disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
- Roll stability control (RSC) is blocked on cars that have it
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
