BCM-C003729 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor. General Signal Failures. Signal signal invalid
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) receives speed information from four wheel sensors. The signal from the left rear wheel sensor is missing, or it shows too low a speed, so the module treats the signal as invalid. The speed data for that wheel is then missing for ABS and the stability functions.
Possible causes
- Damaged wiring to the left rear wheel sensor
- Damaged left rear wheel sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Look for damage in the wiring to the left rear wheel sensor, particularly in the wheel arch
- 3Check that the left rear wheel sensor is undamaged and secure
- 4Read the wheel speed with diagnostic equipment and replace the wiring or sensor as needed
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the ABS system yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS does not work or activates suddenly
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Hill descent assist does not work
- Hill start assist does not work
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
