BCM-C004449 - Brake Pressure Sensor "A". System Internal Failures. Internal electronic failure
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has registered an internal electrical fault in brake pressure sensor A, which measures the pressure in the braking system. The module therefore cannot rely on the pressure signal, and several stability and brake assist functions may be switched off.
Possible causes
- Damaged pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that brake pressure rises when the pedal is pressed, which a workshop can read with diagnostic equipment
- 3If the code returns, the brake control module normally needs replacing by a workshop, and the acceleration sensor and internal sensors must then be calibrated afterwards
- 4The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brake system yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Front monitoring and City Safety do not work
- Cruise control will not engage
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Brake pedal requires more force than normal
- Parking brake has reduced or incorrect function
What the fault can affect2
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
- Traction control, stability control and brake assistance can be disabled
