What does this fault code mean?
On the XC90, the brake control module (BCM) has registered an electrical fault in brake pressure sensor B, which measures the pressure in the braking system. The fault may lie in the sensor, the wiring or the module, and the stability functions may be switched off.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wires to the pressure sensor
- Wires shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Damaged pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors at the brake control module and the pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Look for breaks and short circuits to ground in the wiring running from the pressure sensor to the module
- 4Read the pressure with diagnostic equipment while the pedal is pressed, and replace the sensor if it does not follow
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the braking system or the sensor yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
