BCM-C004664
VOLVO
BCM-C004664 - Brake pressure sensor "A"/"B". Algorithm error. Signal outside permitted range
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
On cars with DSTC, the brake control module (BCM) compares the signals from the two brake pressure sensors, A and B. When the module judges the signal from either sensor to be implausible, the code is set, and the stability functions may be switched off.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the ground wire to the pressure sensor
- Fault in the brake circuit
- Damaged pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors at the brake control module and the pressure sensors for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check the ground wire between the faulty pressure sensor and the brake control module for a break
- 4Read the pressure from both sensors with diagnostic equipment while the pedal is pressed, and replace the sensor if it does not follow
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brakes or sensors yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice4
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
