What does this fault code mean?
The vacuum sensor in the brake booster has a stored correction value (offset) for its individual deviation, and the brake control module has found that the value is incorrect. The sensor's vacuum signal therefore cannot be used reliably.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage or ground
- Damaged vacuum pressure sensor
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Start the engine, press the brake pedal and have a workshop read the vacuum pressures with diagnostic equipment. They should update and agree
- 3If the vacuum pressures do not agree, the vacuum sensor needs replacing by a workshop
- 4Check that the connector at the vacuum sensor is secure and free from oxidation
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brake booster yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
