Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has detected a short to ground in the circuit to the pedal position sensor in the brake booster. The sensor tells the module how quickly the brake pedal is pressed, and brake assistance needs it to help during an emergency stop.
Possible causes
- Wires shorted to ground
- Break in the wires
- Damaged pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Check the connector at the pedal position sensor and the wiring for chafing and damage, especially where the cable could short to ground
- 4Check the wiring with diagnostic equipment and replace the pedal position sensor if it is damaged
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the pedal position sensor or brake booster yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- Brake assistance (BA) can be disabled
