BCM-C005154 - Steering Wheel Position Sensor. System Programming Failures. Missing calibration
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V40, the brake control module (BCM) has found that the checksum of the stored calibration values for the stability system sensors does not match. The calibration has not been carried out, or has been reset, so the stability functions are blocked until it is done.
Possible causes
- Calibration of the steering angle sensor has not been carried out
- The code may have been set after the offset values of the acceleration sensors were reset
- Damaged brake control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code. If it was only stored during a software update, it can be cleared
- 2Have a workshop carry out the calibration of the steering angle sensor and the stability sensors with diagnostic equipment
- 3Clear the code only after calibration, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains after calibration, the brake control module needs checking by a workshop
- 5The braking system and steering are safety critical: do not work on the calibration or the sensors yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice3
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Traction control is blocked
- Stability control is blocked
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
