What does this fault code mean?
On cars with DSTC, the brake control module (BCM) receives signals on yaw angle, lateral acceleration and tilt from the stability sensor (BSC). If the module receives an incorrect signal from the lateral accelerometer, the code is set and the stability functions are switched off.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wires to the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor or the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the wires to the stability sensor for breaks and short circuits to ground
- 3Check that the correct stability sensor is fitted, particularly on all-wheel drive cars
- 4Read the sensor status with diagnostic equipment and replace the stability sensor if the fault remains
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the stability sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin and stability function do not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
- Roll stability control (RSC) is blocked on cars that have it
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
