What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has judged the correction value (offset) that the stability sensor stores for its individual deviation to be unreasonable. The sensor measures lateral acceleration and yaw rate, and when the value does not match, the stability functions cannot rely on it.
Possible causes
- Stability sensor incorrectly fitted
- Loose stability sensor
- Bent bracket for the stability sensor
- Internal fault in the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the stability sensor is secure and correctly fitted, and that the bracket is not bent or damaged
- 3Have a workshop check the sensor calibration with diagnostic equipment. If the fault remains, the stability sensor needs replacing by a workshop
- 4The code being stored can point to a fault in another module, so read the codes in the other modules too
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the stability sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Cruise control will not engage
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
- Brake pedal requires more force than normal
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control and stability control can be disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
