What does this fault code mean?
On cars with DSTC, the brake control module (BCM) has found that the calibration of the stability sensor is missing or has been reset. The code may be set after the stored offset values have been cleared, for example during a software update, and then it only needs clearing.
Possible causes
- The code may be set after the offset values for the sensors in the stability sensor have been reset
- Damaged brake control module
What you can do
- 1If the code was stored during a software update, clearing it is enough. Then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop calibrate the brake control module following the manufacturer's instructions with diagnostic equipment, then clear the code
- 3After calibration, read the code status; if it now shows as intermittent, the fault is no longer present
- 4If the code returns after calibration, the brake control module normally needs replacing by a workshop
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not carry out the calibration yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
