What does this fault code mean?
The yaw rate sensor in the stability sensor has a correction value for its individual deviation, and the brake control module has judged the value to be unreasonable. The fault most often lies in how the stability sensor is fitted, and the brake control module is normally not the fault.
Possible causes
- Stability sensor incorrectly fitted
- Loose stability sensor
- Bent bracket for the stability sensor
- Internal fault in the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the stability sensor is secure and correctly fitted, and that the bracket under the passenger seat is not bent
- 3Check the sensor with diagnostic equipment. If the fault remains, the stability sensor needs replacing by a workshop
- 4Read the codes in the airbag system too, as this code can sometimes be linked to a fault there
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the stability sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Cruise control will not engage
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
- Brake pedal requires more force than normal
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control and stability control can be disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
