What does this fault code mean?
On cars with roll stability control (RSC), the brake control module (BCM) judges the signal from the stability sensor's roll rate sensor to be implausible. The fault most often lies in the sensor's mounting or in the sensor itself, and roll control is blocked until the fault is fixed.
Possible causes
- Stability sensor incorrectly fitted
- Loose stability sensor
- Bent bracket for the stability sensor
- Internal fault in the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Make sure the stability sensor is firmly fixed and correctly fitted under the passenger seat, and look for any bend in its bracket
- 3Have a workshop read the sensor status and replace the stability sensor if the fault remains
- 4If the code points to the airbag system, the fault may lie there, so have the workshop check that system too
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the stability sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Anti-spin and anti-skid indication shows a fault or no indication
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Cruise control will not engage
What the fault can affect3
- Traction control and stability control can be disabled
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
- Roll control (RSC) is blocked
