What does this fault code mean?
The stability sensor (BSC) checks its own operation using internal software, and it has informed the brake control module that it has registered an internal fault. The stability functions are therefore switched off until the fault is fixed.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3If the fault remains, the stability sensor needs replacing by a workshop. The brake control module is normally not the fault
- 4The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the stability sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Anti-spin indicator lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
