What does this fault code mean?
The voltage to the AYC sensor in the stability system is below the threshold. The sensor needs a stable supply to work, and when that is missing, the stability functions are blocked.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections to the AYC sensor
- Wires shorted to ground
- Break in the wires
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns. Wait a moment after switching the ignition on before reading the code
- 2Check the connectors at the brake control module and the AYC sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the battery is in good condition and that the charging system works, as low voltage can cause this fault
- 4Check the wires for breaks and short circuits to ground, and the supply voltage to the sensor, with diagnostic equipment
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the AYC sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
