What does this fault code mean?
The voltage to the AYC sensor in the stability system is above the threshold. This can be caused by the supply wire being shorted to supply voltage or by an internal fault in the sensor, and the stability functions are switched off.
Possible causes
- Supply wire shorted to supply voltage
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the stability sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the wires to the AYC sensor for chafing and a short to supply voltage
- 3Check that the charging system works, as excessive voltage in the car can cause this fault
- 4Measure the supply voltage with diagnostic equipment and replace the AYC sensor if the wiring and voltage are in order
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the AYC sensor or braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
