What does this fault code mean?
The stability function has been regulating continuously for too long, and the brake control module (BCM) has registered this. The driver may have noticed the anti-spin function switching off for a while and the ABS lamp lighting. The cause most often lies in the steering wheel, the wheel alignment or how the stability sensor is fitted.
Possible causes
- Steering wheel incorrectly fitted
- Incorrect wheel alignment
- Loose or incorrectly fitted stability sensor
- Damaged AYC sensor
- Stability sensor not working
What you can do
- 1Check the front and rear brakes for signs of overheating damage to the calipers, pads and discs, and have a workshop replace any damaged parts
- 2Check that the steering wheel is correctly fitted and that the front axle is correctly set up
- 3Check that the stability sensor is firmly fixed and correctly fitted to the bracket under the passenger seat
- 4Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brakes or stability system yourself; leave this to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice5
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-spin and stability function do not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
- Cruise control will not engage
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are blocked
