What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) calculates the temperature of the brake discs from how much the brakes have been used. If the temperature is calculated to be too high, the traction control function is temporarily limited. It is an information code, and the condition clears once the brakes have cooled.
Possible causes
- Prolonged traction control regulation
- Prolonged braking that has made the brake discs too hot
What you can do
- 1Let the brakes cool down, then drive carefully and check whether the code returns
- 2Avoid spinning the wheels for long periods, for example in snow or mud, and avoid hard braking until the brakes have cooled
- 3Have a workshop carry out a visual inspection of the front brakes and replace any damaged parts, as overheating can damage calipers, pads and discs
- 4The braking system is safety critical: have a workshop carry out the inspection and decide whether the brakes can be used as normal
Symptoms you may notice2
- Traction control warning lamp on
- Traction control and anti-skid indication shows a fault or no indication
What the fault can affect1
- Traction control is blocked
