What does this fault code mean?
A self-check function inside the module watches over its own components, and it has logged an internal electrical fault. The fault lies in the module, and ABS and several stability functions are blocked until it is fixed.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off and on and see whether the warning lamps go out
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Check that the battery is in good condition and that its terminals are tight, as voltage problems can cause false internal faults
- 4If the fault returns, the brake control module needs replacing by a workshop, which then programs and calibrates it
- 5The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the braking system yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed

- Stability function does not work
- Electronic parking brake has reduced function
