BCM-C100F12 - Brake Pedal Angle Sensor Supply. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
On the V60, the brake control module (BCM) has detected a short to battery voltage in the supply to the brake pedal angle sensor. The sensor needs the correct supply to measure the pedal position, so without it the pedal signal becomes incorrect.
Possible causes
- Brake pedal angle sensor shorted to battery voltage
- Damaged wiring to the brake pedal angle sensor
- Damaged brake pedal angle sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Look for damage in the wiring to the brake pedal angle sensor, particularly where it could have touched a live supply
- 3Check the angle sensor with diagnostic equipment and replace it if damaged
- 4The braking system is safety critical: do not work on the brake pedal sensor yourself; leave this to a workshop, and drive carefully until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice4
- Anti-spin function does not work
- Hill descent assist does not work
- Hill start assist does not work
- Front monitoring and adaptive cruise control do not work
