BCM-C110668 - Communication between control modules. Algorithm error. Event-controlled information
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) checks that the steering angle is plausible compared with the car's other signals, once the steering angle sensor has been initialised. The check has not passed at a sufficient speed, so the dynamic stability control is switched off. The code is often linked to the steering angle sensor.
Possible causes
- The plausibility check of the steering angle has not passed
- Fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS), if a code for it is also stored
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the brake control module and check whether a code for the steering angle sensor is also stored
- 2If this code is stored on its own it can be cleared, and the car then road tested
- 3If a steering angle sensor code is also present, have a workshop diagnose the sensor with diagnostic equipment
- 4The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the module
Symptoms you may notice2
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
