BCM-C110768 - Communication between control modules. Algorithm error. Event-controlled information
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) is waiting for the steering angle sensor to be initialised, which happens when the steering wheel is turned a little after start-up. If initialisation has not taken place after a longer distance at a sufficient speed, the code is set, and stability control stays switched off until the sensor is initialised.
Possible causes
- The steering angle sensor has not been initialised after a longer distance
- The steering wheel has not been turned after the car was started
What you can do
- 1Drive a short distance and turn the steering wheel a little in both directions so the steering angle sensor initialises
- 2Check whether the traction control warning lamp goes out once the sensor has been initialised
- 3If this code is stored on its own it can be cleared once the steering angle sensor is initialised
- 4If a steering angle sensor code is also present, have a workshop diagnose it with diagnostic equipment
- 5The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the module
Symptoms you may notice2
- General warning lamp on
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
