What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered that the signal to switch off the DSTC/ESC stability system has been active for too long. The system always starts with stability control switched on and can only be switched off manually with the thumb wheel on the left steering stalk. The fault most often means a control has stuck or communication has been disturbed.
Possible causes
- One or more controls on the left steering stalk have stuck in the activated position
- Interference or brief interruptions on the data network (CAN)
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which sends the signal
What you can do
- 1Check that the control on the left steering stalk moves freely and is not stuck, and that nothing is pressing on it
- 2Check the fuses for the stability system
- 3Clear the code and check that it does not return after the control has been tested
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop read the codes in the central electronic module and check the data network with diagnostic equipment
- 5The stability and brake systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No clear symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The DSTC/ESC stability system cannot be switched off during the current drive
