Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The AYC sensor in the stability system contains, among other things, a tilt angle sensor, which sends information about the car's sideways tilt to the brake control module (BCM) over its own internal data network. The code is set when the signal from that sensor is faulty. It only applies to cars with DSTC.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wiring to the AYC sensor
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring to the AYC sensor for open circuits, chafing and short circuits to ground
- 2If no wiring fault is found, the AYC sensor needs replacing by a workshop
- 3Clear the code after the repair and road test the car
- 4The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out all work on the sensor and the module
Symptoms you may notice4
- General warning lamp on
- Traction control does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are disabled
- Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled on cars that have it
