BCM-C111464
VOLVO
BCM-C111464 - Inclination sensor. Algorithm error. Signal outside permitted range
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has received an implausible signal from one of the sensors in the AYC sensor, namely yaw rate, lateral acceleration, acceleration or tilt angle. The cause may be interference on the wiring, too low a supply voltage, wrong wheel alignment or an internal fault in the sensor. The code only applies to cars with DSTC.
Possible causes
- Interference or noise on the wiring to the AYC sensor
- Supply voltage to the AYC sensor too low
- Incorrect wheel alignment
- Internal fault in the AYC sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the plugs at the brake control module and at the AYC sensor for poor contact and oxidation
- 2Check that no source of interference, such as a mobile phone or radio receiver, is too close to the AYC sensor
- 3Road test the car and then read the code; if it has become intermittent, the cause is most likely contact resistance or an interference source
- 4Check the wheel alignment and have a workshop correct it if needed
- 5The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the sensor and the module
Symptoms you may notice4
- General warning lamp on
- Traction control does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control, stability control and dynamic stability control (AYC) are disabled
- Roll stability control (RSC) is disabled on cars that have it
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
