What does this fault code mean?

The pedal pressure sensor in the brake booster has given a signal that the brake control module judges to be implausible: the signal is missing, too high or too low. The module uses the signal to switch off the stability function and brake assistance, so they do not work while the fault remains. The fault is only seen once the test has started.

    Possible causes

    • Break in the signal wire
    • Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
    • Signal wire shorted to ground
    • Damaged pressure sensor
    • Internal fault in the brake control module

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
    2. 2Where possible, check that the relevant functions work using the switches, controls and a road test
    3. 3Read the pedal pressure sensor status with diagnostic equipment and check the wiring for breaks and shorts
    4. 4Correct the fault as needed and clear the code
    5. 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the brake booster and the brake control module

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • Adaptive cruise control does not work
    • Cruise control will not engage

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
