VOLVO
BCM-U002855 - Vehicle Communication Bus A. System Programming Failures. Not configured
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), XC60 (2009–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) and the main unit of the airbag system (SRS) use a configuration ID to work together on the local sensor network. The code is set when the BCM's ID does not match the one the SRS sends out. This most often happens when a module has been replaced without the correct software being downloaded.
Possible causes
- Incorrect configuration ID, for example a used module with software or hardware not intended for the car
What you can do
- 1Ask whether any module has been replaced, and whether the correct software was downloaded at the time
- 2Download new software to the brake control module or to the front monitoring module following the workshop procedure, then check that the code is not set again
- 3If the fault remains after reprogramming, troubleshoot the wiring of the local sensor network between the front monitoring module and the airbag system
- 4The airbag and brake systems are safety-critical, so do not work on them yourself and have a workshop carry out all programming
Symptoms you may notice5
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision and brake support do not work
