What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor control module (SAS) sends information on the CAN network that the brake control module (BCM) uses in several brake functions. The code is set when the signal from the SAS is missing, and the fault can only be detected once the test has started. It most often comes from interference or intermittent breaks on the CAN network.
Possible causes
- Interference or intermittent breaks on the CAN network
- Fault in the steering angle sensor control module (SAS)
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the central electronic module and in the steering angle sensor module, and troubleshoot them first
- 2Check the wiring and connections on the CAN network for breaks and damage
- 3Check that the wiring is not routed close to sources of interference, such as mobile phones
- 4Clear the code only once the cause has been corrected, and check that it does not return after a road test
- 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the wiring and the modules
Symptoms you may notice5
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision warning do not work
What the fault can affect3
- Stability control is disabled
- Traction control is disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
